Can You Hear Me Now?

Shirley Learns Her Husband Has Cheated…

…[Shirley] found a carefully folded map of the hotel with the same room number circled and arrows drawn in directing the culprit from the FRONT LOBBY to ROOM 132…  suddenly she knew there was no way her husband could have been in Louisiana working that weekend…  To Shirley’s disbelief and sad regret, a food receipt to a local restaurant told her that her husband didn’t dine alone.  Shirley knew who the long distance home-wrecker [was] who wanted her husband that bad.

Shirley awoke from a deep sleep at 5:30a.m. Tuesday morning.  The darkness and the cool breeze of the fan kept her under the covers a minute longer than her spirit anticipated.  But for some reason something tugged at her conscious to get up and to get answers.  It was as if a voice deep in her soul told her that she had enough rest, and now was the time for revelation.  She knew that spirit was divine.  Something awoke her the previous Saturday morning and stirred her soul, and kept saying to her “your husband is not where he told you he would be.”

Quietly, Shirley arose from the bed where her spouse lay soundly asleep.  He didn’t even hear the springs from their old mattress as she crept to the walk-in closet.  She didn’t know what she would find inside the closet, but she knew God had awakened her for a reason.  She stared once again at her husband’s luggage. Fear crept through her mind and worked its way down to the sole of her feet as she walked over slowly and quietly to her husband’s luggage and unzipped with ease.

She searched through pockets, cracks, crevices, openings, and looked at any and all pieces of papers she could find inside his bag.  Just as she was about to give up, a hotel key card fell out of her husband’s pants pocket.  She stared on the floor and her heart dropped completely in her stomach as she read the words “RAMADA INN 132” boldly printed on the front.  She decided to look further into that back pocket.  She found a carefully folded map of the hotel with the same room number circled and arrows drawn in directing the culprit from the FRONT LOBBY to ROOM 132.  She looked at the address of the hotel at the top and suddenly she knew there was no way her husband could have been in Louisiana working that weekend, if he’d been at the local Ramada that same weekend.  To Shirley’s disbelief and sad regret, a food receipt to a local Mexican restaurant close to that hotel told her that her husband didn’t dine alone.  Shirley knew who his companion was.  She knew only one long distance home-wrecker who wanted her husband that bad.  And now, as she lay crying crouched on the floor in a fetal position, she could only mutter remnants of words that sounded like, “God please take my pain away…”

For some women or men who find out their significant other has cheated, they may not understand how to deal with the pain, and it will be devastating and confusing.  Whenever your heart is broken, you feel betrayed, disappointed, deceived.  You look for a way out so that the hurt will go away.  There are several positive and negative outlets to turn to, but if you turn to God first, take comfort in these words from Psalms chapter 34 (AMPLIFIED):

17When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles.  18The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent. 19Many evils confront the [consistently] righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

We cry.  He hears.  He delivers.
