Resolution #2

Focus on yourself this new year.

Is your mate so used to being the center of your attention that they get jealous when you focus on your children, work, or yourself? Do you get strange looks when you get ready to “take yourself on a date” to get your nails done or to hang out with friends? It’s okay that you are getting these looks. If looks could kill, in some of your homes, I bet you would have been completely annihilated by now. The best weapon that you have at this point is your mind. Keep your mind free from stress, irrational behavior, and selfish people. When you get your mind right, you learn to protect your most prized possession: your heart.

When your heart is free from the stress that’s on your mind, you can make better decisions. You may even question and wonder, “why did I ever fall for that?”, but don’t worry about your past mistakes. The mistakes or concerns of yesterday are old and gone. The future lies before you and the best thing you can do to begin your new year strong is to focus on what makes you and your most important family members happy. Do not let the stress of the other woman, the anger of your spouse/mate, or the fear of the unknown deter you from starting a brand new life….with yourself.

II Corinthians 5: 17 (New International Version):
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
